Managing Director Lawrence Levy has always sought to make a difference to the Hertfordshire community. Before the idea of Corporate & Social Responsibility (CSR) had taken root, Levy Associates realised its responsibility to its local society and has made enormous efforts to be a force for good within the Hertfordshire area.
In 2006 Lawrence had the idea to organise an annual 10K running event. He approached Grove House hospice* in the spring of that year with that vision. Subsequently the company devoted a large amount of time and resources to make the event successful. Levy Associates works with a number of large pharmaceutical organisations involved in oncology research and that's one of the reasons why it wanted to support the hospice. Lawrence says: "It's really important to the company as well as myself that we raise as much money as possible for Grove House. They do so much for the local community, and as a business owner, I want to do what I can to support them and to help them ensure their success for years to come."
Now in its fifth year, The HERTS 10K is the charity’s flagship fundraising event with thousands of runners coming back year after year in support of their local hospice. To-date the HERTS 10K has raised over £500,000 for the hospice.
In October 2009 Levy Associates won the St Albans and District Chamber of Commerce Award for Corporate and Social Responsibility for its creation of the HERTS 10K.
Lawrence continues “This is the community where many of our employees live and I think it’s essential that local businesses do everything they can to support the smaller charities that truly make a difference to people’s lives”.
